Adobe Meet Cardiff
So today I went to the Creative Suite 3 tour from Adobe in Cardiff. I attended presentations on Dreamweaver, Flash, Flex, ColdFusion, AIR and some other stuff I can’t recall already!
Whilst Flash looks cool I was most impressed with Flex 3.0 and it’s apparent OpenSource nature specifically linked to Eclipse in the form of Flex Builder 3.
There was some really good stuff on show which I hope to try and play with and integrate in my portfolio.
For what it’s worth, my overall impressions are that Adobe have made big steps in some areas whilst other products remain ‘hangers on’ from what is left of Macromedia. It seems to me, coming from a .Net background, that Adobe scripting looks to be a lot more Object Oriented than it was when I have used it before. Surely this can only be a good thing. The integration of the graphical parts of CS3 with the scripting are what excites me most though. Although, like Ian said, it is in fact already possible with normal CSS and code-behind type work. It just requires a little more effort.
