Holiday
Orlando – May 2009
Well we’ve just returned from a really nice holiday in Orlando.
We didn’t do a lot.
Some swimming…
A little Disney but hardly any…
And getting caught in the odd gentle afternoon shower…
We found a villa via Google which turned out to be really nice. Definitely recommend it.
It was a really nice time for us. Especially with the baby on the way now. It was fun imaging them jumping around in the swimming pool with us!
There are some more photos but not many. Only so many pictures you can take when you aren’t doing anything!
Who needs to go abroad for a holiday?!
This February we found a lovely place to go for a short break in a little town called Pontrhydfendigaid – Dolyrychain Cottage.
The cottages are run by Iona and Ifan Lloyd Davies who were lovely hosts to us for the week. In fact, without them we would have struggled for the first days after arriving.
We arrived on a Monday evening and went to bed with the snow starting to fall. When we woke on Tuesday we were about 6 inches deep in snow. We had no food so decided we needed to venture down to the village. Unfortunately the car didn’t have the same sense of adventure. Ifan was on hand with his more reliable giant 4×4 and jump leads.
Nevertheless, we had a really nice week away and would thoroughly recommend the cottages we stayed in.
Isle of Wight
In mid-April we decided to go and visit our friends Tom and Ellen who have moved to the Isle of Wight, and we were accompanied by our other buddies Viv and Ian. Just like Barry and Bridgend, we discovered that the Isle of Wight is also always sunny. In fact, if you stand waiting for the ferry home you can see how miserable England looks, with or without rain. Having said that, every time we cross the Severn Bridge (£5.30!!) it’s always raining in Wales too!
Ian once again proved that there is no reason why he should weigh less than 10 stone. Where does all that food go?! The four of us had a really lovely time visiting Tom and Ellen in their new house, and look forward to doing so again once all their building work is finished! Come up and visit us sometime soon T&E, we miss you!
Edinburgh
Over the course of the year we managed to save enough Tesco Clubcard vouchers to pay for 4 nights Dinner, Bed and Breakfast in the McDonald Roxburgh hotel in Edinburgh. It was a really nice place just off Prince’s Street which is the main high street in the city.
Edinburgh is every bit as interesting as we hoped with a real good mix of old and new.
As usual when we are holiday we went to the cinema, this time to see Stardust. When we were leaving we bumped in to Emma Watson or Hermione for those of you who are Harry Potter fans. It was a bit weird and hard not to stare!
Summer 2007
Well it’s been over 2 months since we last posted on here which isn’t very clever. So sorry about that. (Not that any one is likely to have noticed!)
Our summer went something like this:
July 2007
Ian and Viv’s Wedding somewhere near Silverstone/Oxford in a little village I forget the name of! We had trouble with the hotel and ended up having to drive back after wedding and eventually got home at 1am. Still, nice day overall.
Then we went off to Camp and it rained a lot. I think you probably all remember the rain. Still on the plus side there were no arcade games this year which was a definite plus in my opinion and the week went very well overall.
August 2007
August saw another wedding but this time for Bethan and Chris. I have to say that of the 3 weddings I have been to this summer I enjoyed this one the most. No offense to the other parties concerned but I really enjoyed meeting up with my family who I don’t see as often as I would like to.
During August we escaped for a week to a small town in France to stay with Jen’s mum and dad. Like last year we had a very relaxing week and enjoyed being spoiled by Eira! There aren’t many photos to show you as I didn’t take any!
The last event of the summer was the wedding of Ellen and Tom. (Photo soon!) Once again we enjoyed ourselves and were very impressed with the venue and the food on offer! I think they win that prize this year!
My new job is going well and I have already been in post for 5 weeks. I have made the most of being able to walk and cycle to work and have only taken the car out of the garage a handful of times. Hopefully it will start to pay off soon both financially and physically.
Jen is well. Busy as usual. Perhaps I’ll let her add her own update…
Snowdonia
I have just returned from my annual trip away with Adam. This year we visited Snowdonia taking in some walking, plenty of local food and drink and a good number of miles touring around the area. I have added some photos to the gallery.
