Work
Summer 2007
Well it’s been over 2 months since we last posted on here which isn’t very clever. So sorry about that. (Not that any one is likely to have noticed!)
Our summer went something like this:
July 2007
Ian and Viv’s Wedding somewhere near Silverstone/Oxford in a little village I forget the name of! We had trouble with the hotel and ended up having to drive back after wedding and eventually got home at 1am. Still, nice day overall.
Then we went off to Camp and it rained a lot. I think you probably all remember the rain. Still on the plus side there were no arcade games this year which was a definite plus in my opinion and the week went very well overall.
August 2007
August saw another wedding but this time for Bethan and Chris. I have to say that of the 3 weddings I have been to this summer I enjoyed this one the most. No offense to the other parties concerned but I really enjoyed meeting up with my family who I don’t see as often as I would like to.
During August we escaped for a week to a small town in France to stay with Jen’s mum and dad. Like last year we had a very relaxing week and enjoyed being spoiled by Eira! There aren’t many photos to show you as I didn’t take any!
The last event of the summer was the wedding of Ellen and Tom. (Photo soon!) Once again we enjoyed ourselves and were very impressed with the venue and the food on offer! I think they win that prize this year!
My new job is going well and I have already been in post for 5 weeks. I have made the most of being able to walk and cycle to work and have only taken the car out of the garage a handful of times. Hopefully it will start to pay off soon both financially and physically.
Jen is well. Busy as usual. Perhaps I’ll let her add her own update…
New Job

It’s all happening since we moved here almost 3 months ago! First Jen and now I have got a new job. I am serving my notice period before going to work at Police Head Quarters in the IT department. It’s very close to home so I should be able to cycle to work and also there is a load more holiday which is excellent! I hope to start at the end of July.
Hopefully it’s not all donuts and coffee though as I want to get fit cycling to work not turn in to a ‘pig’!
A New Job – Yay!
It seems like we’ve been waiting ages for the right job to come along for me, and it has been an anxious time for us – particularly as my current job in dentistry was supposed to be ending on the 31st March.
However, things have worked out for us as always. Last Thursday (8th March) I was interviewed for and subsequently offered a job in the Caerphilly area, working on services for children for the next 18 months.
I’m very much looking forward to the challenge, and I’m pleased that I can put a big fat tick on my “To Do” list next to “Find a Job”!!! I’ve now got to focus on finishing off a stack of work in my current post, along with my dissertation and the house move – it’s all go! Thanks for all the good wishes and prayers guys.
Back to School
Last week I went back to ’school’ for the first time in 5 years and I am now a certified PRINCE2 Project Manager.
This basically means I sat and listened to a very clever, and slightly geeky man, for 3 days before putting my short term memory to the test and sitting a multiple choice test.
Now, I wouldn’t say it was easy, but it wasn’t rocket science. Needless to say I passed!
Any way, despite what you may think of me, I am now qualified to nationally recognised standard at being organised and able to manage things.
Ha! As if!
Maybe it's not always sunny in Barry!
I’m usually just leaving for work about this time – it’s 0715 now. However, this is the view from our front room at the moment so I am currently waiting for news about whether the office is open or not today. So far there are a large number of schools closed in the area where I work so fingers crossed for a day playing in the snow!
Actually, it occurs to me that Barry would make an excellent place to practice my skiing given it’s tendancy for ridiculous hills! Hmmm…
